It has been a while since I shared a gallery. Purists may say they are not all maps but these are definitely eye-catching representations of geographic data.

Escaping to the country

Over the past few years there has been much interest in themed maps and texture maps. This combined with the recent OS blog post Maps on screen gave me the idea to replicate some of the maps I have seen on the TV to show how easily data can be transformed in appearance and to show how easy a ‘similar style’ can be created.

The Immigration Elections

With nationalism on the march, and anti-immigration rhetoric spreading virally across Europe, the European Union (EU) and the unity of its member states is looking perhaps somewhat fragile… On the back of the release of the UK Census data in May 2013, I released a map showing the spread of EU accession state nationals in England and Wales. So, now that immigration remains a hotly debated political issue, and now that both local and European election results are in, I thought it would be interesting to overlay this new data, i.e. to view how ‘regions’ voted compared with where ‘new immigrants’ live.
